We’ve made it through Dry January but fear not because each month will surely have another hashtag ready and waiting. February hasn’t let us down. This time though, it might actually be a great way to use social media in a good reality check kind of way.
Yes, February is all about taking off the Amaro, Reyes and Crema tinted spectacles and sharing life in, shock/horror, Normal. That is to say you should most definitely include #nofilter before you post. I think that like many people I rely on a little highlighting, fade and vignette edges to give my photos a good dose of Instragram perfection. This month might be as hard as cutting the alcohol. But that’s the point. Our social media lives have become so overly curated, they’ve lost touch with a bit of honest reality.
29 Days of Realism
In a similar way that Tinder users decided to show pictures of the “real them” next to their highly edited Tinder Profile pics, #nofilterFeb will hopefully show that the world around us is pretty damn good without the cover ups. Ok, I might be rushing to do a ‘naked’ selfie on Day 1. But I never said I was perfect.
